This template Copyright Licence Between Language Centre and Creator– Language Resource (Licence) is to be used when an Indigenous Language Centre and an author, artist or other creator agree to the development of a Resource as part of an Indigenous language program (Program) run by the Language Centre. The artist/author/creator (Creator) will contribute to the Program by creating drawings or writing stories or other materials (Works) to be included in Program Resources.

This Agreement assumes that the Creator will retain the copyright ownership of their Work and grant the Language Centre a licence to use the Works for the development of Program Resources and the right to permit third parties to make use of the Works.

This Licence includes the most common terms which the parties need to consider and agree to enable the Language Centre to use the Works but may also be tailored to suit the needs of any specific case. It is based on the premise that the Creator owns copyright in the Works they create; it needs to be amended if this is not the case.

Language Centres may be eligible to receive this contract template at no cost.  Please contact us at [email protected] for more information.
