Making a submission to the review of the Indigenous Art Code

The government has engaged Cox Inall Ridgeway to review the Indigenous Art Code and the organisation which administers it, the Indigenous Art Code Ltd. The Indigenous Art Code is a voluntary industry code of conduct which has been operating since 2009. It provides rules and guidelines which art dealers commit to follow in order to ensure ethical practices and fair treatment of indigenous artists. This is the first review of the Code since it began to operate. The purpose of the review is to strengthen the protections for First Nations artists and consumers.

You can make a submission online. You can also read more information about the review and guidelines for making a written submission on the Cox Inall Ridgeway website.

Consultations close at 5.00pm on 29 November 2024. Cox Inall Ridgeway will make recommendations in mid-2025 which the government will consider.
