In October 2024, Arts Law had the exciting opportunity to take part in APRA AMCOS High Score in Melbourne, a gathering for game music composers and sound artists, offering a platform for networking, learning, and creative collaboration.

Our CEO, Louise Buckingham, took part in an engaging panel, “Game Music in the Wild: From OSTs to Orchestras,” alongside industry experts including Jini Maxwell and Narayana Johnson and hosted by Tim Shiel. The panel explored the potential for game music to thrive beyond the confines of the games it was created for, from vinyl releases to live concerts, Spotify playlists, and even museum exhibitions.

Throughout the weekend, Arts Law also participated in live clinics, offering advice to composers, musicians, and sound artists on issues around copyright protection to licensing and contracts.

We’re thrilled that Arts Law will be returning to APRA AMCOS High Score next year, continuing our support for game music creators and expanding our involvement in this vibrant, growing community. The gaming music industry is evolving rapidly, and with increasing opportunities and challenges, we’re committed to providing ongoing legal support to help artists thrive. If you’re a music creator working in games or another area of music and need legal assistance, Arts Law can help. We offer resources such as Information Sheets on topics like copyright and trademarks, as well as our Document Review Service, which helps artists review and negotiate contracts.
