Farewell: Our Vollies Vault Off

Welcoming student volunteers helps shape Arts Law’s culture and capabilities as an organisation. From placing requests for legal help to providing quick communication with clients, our volunteers are invaluable to our smooth operations. Now farewelling our current volunteers, Jess and Tash, we gain a glimpse into their experiences at Arts Law.

As our time as volunteers at Arts Law draws to a close, we wanted to take a moment to express our appreciation and share our reflections on the incredible experiences we’ve had. It has been an absolute delight to be part of the Arts Law team, and we are immensely grateful for the workplace culture that made our journey truly unforgettable.

From day one, we felt a warm and inclusive atmosphere that immediately put us at ease. The dedication of the team was infectious, and we couldn’t help but join in the excitement of supporting artists and creators. Our Tuesdays at Arts Law became the highlight of our week, filled with lively discussions, learning experiences, and an undeniable sense of camaraderie that permeated the entire office.

One of the most intriguing aspects of our time at Arts Law was the opportunity to engage with a diverse range of legal matters concerning the arts. We found ourselves diving headfirst into fascinating cases that explored copyright issues, contracts, intellectual property, and more. The breadth of legal challenges presented to us sparked our curiosity and expanded our understanding of the complex legal landscape surrounding the creative industry.

Volunteering at Arts Law has been an invaluable learning experience that has equipped us with essential skills for our future endeavours. Interacting with clients allowed us to refine our communication skills, ensuring we were clear, practical and empathetic. These skills will undoubtedly serve us well as we embark on our professional legal journeys beyond university.

By providing artists, musicians, writers, and performers with the legal support they needed, we experienced the incredible impact of our work firsthand. Each interaction reaffirmed the significance of our contribution to individuals and the arts community as a whole. It was truly fulfilling to witness the positive influence our efforts had.

Our time at Arts Law has kindled a deep passion for working with artists and the creative community. Witnessing the transformative power of the arts and the importance of protecting artists’ rights has been an eye-opening experience. We have developed a genuine enthusiasm for advocating for artists’ legal needs and will carry this enthusiasm with us.

As we say farewell to Arts Law, we depart with an abundance of knowledge, skills and an excitement to put in to practice the invaluable lessons we learnt during our time here.

Thank you once again for an extraordinary experience.

Alongside student volunteers, we also welcome experienced lawyers to volunteer at Arts Law. One of our key services is the Document Review Service, which allows our clients to have files such as contracts reviewed by qualified lawyers.
