Congratulations Jack Howard!

Moving from being our Artists in the Black Paralegal to one of our Solicitors, the team here at Arts Law are happy to say “congratulations” to Jack Howard. Jack joined us as a solicitor in 2023, and has worked as our AitB Paralegal for over three years. Today, Jack continues to work closely with First Nations artists, art centres and organisations who seek advice in areas such as contract law, intellectual property, governance and estate planning.

This story is close to our team’s hearts, because Jack originally began at Arts Law as a volunteer. Over the years, he has been involved in many of our key programs, including Licensing the Right Way, the Personal Property Securities Register project for First Nations art centres, drafting of the Reconciliation Action Plan, and our Wills Project.

Away from Arts Law, Jack is an art consultant and assistant valuer with Annette Larkin Fine Art, Paddington, specialising in modern and contemporary Australian art, contemporary Chinese and Taiwanese art, and Japanese woodblock prints. He is also a freelance writer and has worked with law firms, community legal organisations and arts organisations to conduct interviews and document histories of their work and impact. Jack currently serves as Secretary of the Sydney Culture Network, an organisation that aims to foster collaboration and innovation between Sydney-based creative and cultural institutions.

This diverse background, coupled with his Bachelor of Laws/Bachelor of Arts (Art History) from the University of Sydney, has given Jack a strong perspective of both the Art and the Law that makes us ‘us’. We look forward to continuing to work together on our important programs in the future.
