After a pandemic-induced hiatus, Laugh Your Arts Off, our annual comedy showcase fundraiser was back for 2022. Earlier this month seven performers graced the stage at 107 Projects to entertain a packed house.

Hosted by Hearts For Arts Law, the event raised over $1500 for Arts Law to continue supporting Australia’s artists. Hearts for Arts Law (HFAL) is a volunteer committee made up of young lawyers and arts professionals who help raise money for Arts Law. Laugh Your Arts Off has been the key fundraising event for the committee for many years, the 2023 event will be the tenth comedy fundraiser for Arts Law.

Our hilarious MC, David Smeidt, kept things running with wit and enthusiasm. Lawyers/comedians David Mierendorff and Antony Faisandier were back, having performed at several Laugh Your Arts Off events, including the inaugural event back in 2011.

Laugh Your Arts Off traditionally invites the winner of the NSW Golden Gavel to perform. The Golden Gavel is awarded each year by Law Society of NSW to the funniest lawyer in a stand-up comedy showdown. This year we were excited to host Emma Wei, 2022 winner and Olivia Irvine, 2021 winner.

They were joined by long-time supporter, comedian Lauren Bonner and incredibly funny women Freya Morton (Freya Reviews) and Sophia Morrison. We’d like to thank each of our talented performers and MC for giving their time to entertain us and support Arts Law. And thank you to our wonderful audience for your support, we hope you really laughed your arts off.
